GAIN / Ashoka Finalist – GAIN Social Entrepreneur |
| |
The VitaGoat Rural Micro-Enterprise was selected as a finalist among thirteen innovative ideas for improving global nutrition in the online competition, Improved Nutrition: Solutions through Innovation sponsored by The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and Ashoka’s Changemakers.com. The finalists were chosen by a panel of expert judges for being the entrepreneurial solutions from local, grassroots organizations with the best potential to scale-up and achieve major impact on communities lacking access to food with vital nutrients, or are unaware of its benefits. These solutions were chosen from more than 240 entries from across the globe.
Malnutrition Matters was also invited as a “Social Entrepreneur” to GAIN’s Business Alliance Global Forum in Dubai in May, 2010. Hart Jansson of Malnutrition Matters, presented the VitaGoat as a sustainable rural micro-enterprise providing low-cost nutritious food, that had the potential to be scaled up.
